Custom ICC profiles for your printer

Custom ICC profiles will give to your printer brilliant accurate colors on any paper, good soft proofs ( very good control of " out of gamut" colors ). Each printer is physically different, the generic ICC profiles provided with your printer are made for one printer but not your printer ! Major brands like Epson just cannot do ICC profiles for each printer they sell ... it should be like that, but the printer price would climb if they do so !
Your prints don't match your screen ? You can't have good black and white prints ? You want to print on third party papers with good results ? Try the custom ICC profiles from Christophe Metairie Photographie.

Each printer needs different correction curves, generic profiles can't do this !

The process to make your custom ICC profiles is easy: print the targets with a specific driver configuration. Send them to me, I'll read the targets with my Gretag Eyeone UV + IO spectrometer. Your profiles will be made with ProfileMakerPro, a very well known professional software.

Open the targets in photoshop, leave as is ( don't color manage ) when opening ( the targets don't have a tagged color space, photoshop should ask you what to do if it is correctly configured - see Color menu / ask when opening )

print space /profile : same as source ( photoshop CS ) , don't manadge color ( photoshop CS3 )

In your printer driver, select your paper, the resolution, no high speed, NO COLOR CORRECTION.

Save your printer config, you'll have to use the SAME config with your profiles.

With some printer drivers, you'll have to choose " ICM" before " no color adjustement" appears

Be sure there is no head clogs ( run a nozzle check ) and check the head alignement.

To be sure there is no problem on the targets, it's better to run a nozzle check before and after you print the targets. If the nozzle check pattern is not perfect, do not send the targets :-)

After printing the targets, let it dry for at least 12 hours before packaging to send, do not write on the back or cut the sheet, I need the white area around the patches.

look very carefully at your prints, they have to be perfect to make good profiles: no thin lines, no scraches on the prints !
